A group of Clover Park Technical College Communication Studies students addressed the Lakewood Rotary Club on March 15 at the Tacoma Golf and Country Club on American Lake. Kevin Romero, Naoko Blanding, Dana Dickerson and Ashlyn Mellinger were selected by their instructors to speak at the end of the quarter.
"This gives the students a chance to practice the skills
they’ve acquired in the course with a new audience," said Dr. Phil Venditti, communication studies instructor.
The Lakewood Rotary Club has welcomed
such groups of students for the past four winter quarters. The meeting was presided
over by Dave Reames, president of the club.
The students delivered four short speeches on topics such as free speech, thoughts on firearms, a lasting legacy and a personal story of evolution as a graphic artist.
