College Community,
We had a very successful
Martin Luther King, Jr. week of service.
On Wednesday, Jan. 23, 53 students and three faculty members attended two viewings of the Martin Luther
King, Jr. “I Have a Dream” speech.
Thank you, Steve Hooker, Mr.
Morford, Kathleen Hathaway, and Kelly Hacker for encouraging your students to
participate in this event and for inspiring the discussion sessions.
From Jan. 23 through 25, CPTC students and faculty wrote over 275 letters to our troops
and wounded warriors! I am happy to announce that the winner of the Service
Learning Pizza Party is Human Services who wrote a total of 91 letters – way to
go!! Low-Voltage wrote 80 letters, CNISS wrote 54 letters.
I want to also say a big
thank you to the Northwest Career and Technical High School English 94 class
who wrote 24 letters to our troops and wounded warriors.
Thank you also to ECE,
Nursing, Histology, and the many others who helped make these events a big
success.
I look forward to assisting
students and faculty with service learning projects. If you are in need of ideas or have questions
about how to implement service learning into your program, please call, email
me or feel free to stop by Building 10, room 101.
Thank you for your support,
Kay Porter
