While it is an important aspect of my job to communicate externally to stakeholders in our community, it is an equally important part to ensure our faculty, staff and students are up to date as well. To that end, I wanted to share with you the tools we use to communicate official messages.
The College Relations Office manages our website, Facebook and Twitter feeds 7 days a week. In an effort to reach as many people as possible, we post important announcements and updates to both our blog and social media sites.
If you do not already subscribe to our blog posts please do so by visiting cptcinthespotlight.blogspot.com. On the right hand side there is an option to subscribe via email (digested daily) or the RSS feed of your choice. We use the blog to post official information of interest to the campus community as a whole. We also encourage input to the blog. If you have a message you would like posted please send me a request with a short suggested posting. We have more than 8,000 page views on our blog a month. It's a great tool to get the word out about important initiatives. Using the blog also allows us to avoid email clutter.
Our College can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/CloverParkTech and I encourage you to "like" our page. In addition, we have a Twitter feed at www.twitter.com/CloverParkTech. Feel free to follow us and join the Twittersation. We often promote both official College and ASG events
via our social media sites in addition to gentle reminders about some of our upcoming dates and deadlines for student services. If you have an upcoming event please email me. We can set up social media posts to remind and encourage participation.
We also have a College calendar on our website. This Google-based calendar is for posting campus events of general interest and your events are welcome. This calendar populates the upcoming events section of our webpage. If you have an event you are interested in posting please email Rory Douglas.
As with anything in life, these tools are not perfect, but I look forward to developing them across the campus and welcome your feedback. Communication is a two-way street and I'd like to know more about how you receive our messaging and how we can continue to provide you with the information you need to be an ambassador for the College.
Thank you for your time,
Tawny M. Dotson, MA, APR
