Canvas is here!

Last Spring, the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges selected Instructure’s Canvas as the replacement learning management system for our previous LMS, Angel. Since its selection, 30 of the 34 state community and technical colleges and three of the state’s four-year institutions have adopted Canvas for their online courses and programs.  CPTC was excited to be chosen as one of the five institutions to pilot Canvas during Fall Quarter 2012 and we have nine faculty teaching 31 courses this fall. As with any pilot, we are experiencing challenges and successes, with the overall student and faculty responses being very positive.

Clover Park has embarked on an ambitious migration plan that will enable us to turn off Angel at the end of Spring Quarter 2013!

For Faculty: Watch your email for Canvas training opportunities. We will be offering several training sessions each quarter using both hybrid and fully online training delivery. If you would just like more information, please drop by your eLearning department, or give me a call at (253) 589-5730. Also, check out one of the Canvas breakout sessions at this year’s Fall Faculty Inservice.

For Students: Some of your online courses may be taught in Canvas this quarter, and until our migration is complete, you may have online courses in both Angel and Canvas. If you need help figuring out where to go or what to do, feel free to contact eLearning at your convenience. You can call us at (253) 589-5730 or (253) 589-4534, or you can stop by and see us anytime between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. We are always happy to help, and an appointment is never needed.
