Independence Day Operations Update
July 5, 2012
Submitted by Amy Goings, MPA, Vice President for Operations and College Relations
I
hope that faculty and students enjoyed the June break and Independence
Day holiday. I am sure that you continue to notice the facilities
developments on campus.
Here is a brief update on the ongoing projects regarding college operations:
Building 15 Learning Resource Center Renovation: I
would like thank the Library staff, instructional administration, the
Maintenance and IT staff for doing
a yeoman’s job during the June break and getting the Library
successfully relocated in order for Phase I of the Learning Resource
Center to begin on time. Phase I renovation includes exterior painting
and a full renovation of the Library, E-Learning, Teaching
and Learning Centers as well as the Tutoring Center and group study
spaces. Phase I is anticipated to be completed by the start of fall
quarter.
Here
are a few renderings of the newly renovated spaces within Building 15.
The first rendering is what you will see upon entering the building
from the west side
the second is the view of entering the building from the east entrance.
Health Sciences Facility:
The Health Sciences Facility continues to progress on time and on
budget. Efforts are now underway to finalize the equipment list
with faculty. Again, you can always watch the construction progress in
real time at www.cptc.edu/webcams.
Harrison Prep Academy Construction: After a lengthy and thorough negotiation process with the Clover Park School District, construction will begin shortly
on the new Harrison Prep Academy and Elementary School, which will be located where the portable village is currently located.
The
District purchased an additional six acres from the College for a total
of $1.67 million, all of which will be spent on the Building 15
Learning Resource Center
renovation. Construction will begin shortly, and we will do our best to
keep the Lakewood campus community apprised of any construction related
delays.
You
can find the complete listing of the Operations Updates and specific
listings by visiting www.cptc.edu/blog and searching for, “Operations.”
Stay tuned as well
for the new Operations website where you can find updated renderings on
all of our current projects. I will let you know when the site is up
and running. As always, if you have questions please, contact me
